How to reach Montvalent

The commune of Montvalent is situated in the valley of the Dordgogne in the department of Lot (46) in the extreme north of the Occitanie region, only 45 minutes from Brive-la-Gaillarde to the north.

The heart of the village of Montvalent is 10km south of Martel on the D840, 3km south of the bridge over the Dordogne at Gluges, in an imposing position overlooking the valley of the Dordogne.

Lying close to the border between the Nouvelle Aquitaine and Occitanie regions, this area of northern Lot has good road communications. Interchanges 54 and 55 of the A20 autoroute are within 20 minutes drive, making Paris a five hour drive to the north and Toulouse a two hour drive to the south. The crossroads of the east-west A89 autoroute and the north-south A20 at nearby Brive, make Bordeaux and Clermont Ferrand easily accessible.

The airport of Brive-Vallée de la Dordogne between Martel and Brive is a 25 minute drive away, with regular flights to Paris Orly and seasonal flights to the UK, Holland, Corsica and Portugal. Other nearby airports include Limoges and Rodez (both two hours drive).

Regular trains run from Paris to Toulouse via Brive, with a connecting TER service from Brive to Saint-Denis-les-Martel, about 10 minutes drive from Montvalent.
